The Clara L. Curry Wellness Center and Margaret Jean Wells Chapel opened at Llanfair.  2009 - Llanfair Wells Chapel and Curry Wellness Center Opened

Built to blend in with the rest to the campus and preserve the trees and green space that make Llanfair so beautiful, the Clara L. Curry Wellness Center and Margaret Jean Wells Chapel were dedicated October 22, 2009. Both projects were rooted in The Mission, The Vision, The Promise capital campaign.

Llanfair resident Clara Curry was well-known for walking several miles a day at a remarkably brisk clip. She was also very invested in helping the people around her, so when she left a $2 million unrestricted estate gift to Llanfair, the OPRS Board decided to do something special to honor her generosity. A portion of the estate was used to fund the Clara L. Curry Wellness Center, which includes a walking track, shuffleboard court, fitness studio, and exercise area with equipment.

Ed Wells spent three years as a Llanfair resident and served as Leadership Chair for The Mission, The Vision, The Promise capital campaign. He also gave the lead naming gift for the new chapel, choosing to name it in memory of his late wife, Margaret Jean Wells.

At the same time, Llanfair’s Assisted Living was dedicated as the Helen C. Hack Center, as gifts from her estate had provided significant renovations throughout the campus.
