What is Coffee Time? As an active community, we value lifelong learning.  Coffee Time is a free event that provides an opportunity to learn something new through an engaging presentation. Socialize while enjoying fresh-baked breakfast treats at 10 a.m. followed by a scheduled speaker at 10:30 a.m.

9/11 and the Kindness of Strangers

Delta passenger and OSU staffer Shirley Brooks-Jones was eager to return home from Europe in September, 2001. From a light sleep, she was suddenly jolted awake as she heard the captain advising passengers of a “slight emergency” and that the plane would be landing in Canada. It would be five more days before Shirley would set foot in Ohio, but despite the horror of the terrorist attacks of 9/11 her life-long belief that most people are good was reinforced during the days she spent in the tiny town of Lewisporte, Newfoundland. Come hear her story.
