Friday, March 27 from 1 to 2 p.m.
Salem Historical Society
239 S. Lundy, Salem, OH 44460
The docent, dressed as a Salem Quaker, takes passengers back in time to the year 1856. Following the sharing of many stories, the travelers will return to the twenty-first century with a better understanding of the plight of slaves, the working of the Underground Railroad, and the abolitionist movement that flourished in Salem prior to the Civil War. Since the homes are private and entrances not possible, a screen inside the trolley displays slides of the insides
of the homes, the Underground Railroad hiding places, and several abolitionists who lived in or visited them.
