Believing that women, like men, should try to do the impossible, Amelia Earhart flies in to share tales about being the first woman included on the crew of a transatlantic flight in 1928, the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean in 1932 and the first woman to fly solo across the United States.
As the first president of the women pilots’ organization the Ninety-Nines, Amelia fame led to her endorsing products like Longines timepieces, Horlicks malted milk tablets and Beech-Nut tomato juice, and she even had her
own fashion and luggage lines! In her early days, “Meelie” as her sister Muriel liked to call her, was a rough and tumble girl who preferred footballs to dolls.
Throughout her life she became an accomplished pilot, author and teacher. Enjoy as the Golden Girl of aviation prepares to circumnavigate the globe and will regale the audience with her upcoming plans.
About the Women In History Programming

With a passion for history and the women who are responsible for at least half of it, Women in History gives voice to some of the most stirring and inspiring stories that have gone untold for far too long. Through careful research and thorough study, the group has recreated riveting and entertaining life stories of some of history’s most remarkable ladies.
